KEEPING IN TOUCH
This past week I had to go to New Mexico for a meeting. While my time there was very limited, I was given a great surprise. When I was growing up I saw a movie about a convent that had built a chapel and forgot to build stairs to the choir loft. When this was noticed, people said it was impossible in the structure that was built to put in a staircase. They prayed the Novena to Saint Joseph and on the last day of the novena a carpenter showed up, looked at the project and agreed to build a staircase. He built this miraculous staircase that has marveled architects and scientists ever since. When the staircase was completed, he just disappeared without any payment or acknowledgement. The sisters and many throughout history believed that it was indeed Saint Joseph who built the staircase.
As a youngster seeing this movie and having great devotion to Saint Joseph, I longed for the day to be able to see the staircase, thinking to myself that it probably would never happen. To my great surprise, this past Monday I was brought to see the staircase. Those who took me did not know of my desire to see the staircase or my devotion to Saint Joseph. What a gift!
Blessings,
